Pathways to Wellness Initiative:

Healing and Counseling Program

Urban Native Collective has dedicated itself as an organization to stand with our Indigenous sisters, Two-Spirit , Non binary, and Women of color relatives by securing funding and resources to provide mental health services, free of charge.  The healing and counseling program allows for our relatives to see one of the mental health specialists partnering with UNC, to process and heal from issues such as ancestral trauma related to boarding schools and MMIP,  to emotional abuse, as well as any other issues that uniquely affect our communities. A study performed in 2015 by the Urban Indian Health Commission states that, “...studies have indicated that up to 30 percent of all American Indian and Alaska Native adults suffer from depression (SAMSHA, 1999) and there is a strong reason to believe the proportion may be even greater among those living in cities.”

About this Program: The Pathways to Wellness Initiative is a new program by Urban Native Collective, offering comprehensive mental health support to Indigenous Women, Women of color, Two-Spirit, and Non-binary relatives.
